Editor's note: Take 2 photographer Evie Carpenter bids farewell to her experience covering spring training with her five favorite photos.
Covering the Mariners for spring training was nothing like what I had expected.
I was expecting to get the action shots, the fans cheering on their favorite players and maybe even catching some moments between the players and the fans over a signed ball or poster. And I got those shots, but it was things like Munenori Kawasaki shouting random things as he went to catch a ball, Erasmo Ramirez's smile during a pitching drill with his teammate and Shawn Kelley's one liners in between exercises that really caught me off guard.
I'm coming away from this experience feeling like I know these players personally and I don't think I could have ever expected that.
