TV goes to the dogs

Dog fans will be taking control of the TV remote and social media this month to follow three big shows featuring hundreds of canines groomed to perfection and just being cute.

The AKC/Eukanuba National Championship is slated to air Saturday on ABC at 11 a.m. PST. Check your local listings for time and channel. If you can't find it on TV in your area, check out the American Kennel Club's Virtual Viewing Party on Facebook and a Tweet Chat on Twitter using the hashtag #celebratedogs.

On Sunday, tune in for Puppy Bowl IX on Animal Planet starting at 3 p.m. If the Super Bowl fans in your house prefer football over fur balls, don't howl. You can catch every wag, lick, tumble and bark in repeats the rest of the day. Click here to read more about how the wildly popular show comes together.

If that's not enough doggone fun for you, watch the 137th Westminster Kennel Club Show on Feb. 11 and 12. Opening night of the competition will air on CNBC and closing night will air on USA Network. Here's how the two nights break down.

On Feb. 11, the Hounds, Toys, Non-Sporting and Herding Groups will be televised live on CNBC at 8 p.m. ET.

On Feb. 12, the Sporting, Working and Terrier Groups, followed by Best In Show will be shown live on USA Network starting at 8 p.m. ET.

More details about the two telecasts can be found by clicking here.

Please note that the West Coast telecast is delayed. For live results of each day's competition and streaming videos of the judging for the 187 breeds and varieties, see the Westminster Kennel Club Web site.

You might spot the Treeing Walker and the Russell Terrier, the other new competitor, when the championship airs on TV Saturday. They will also appear at Westminster later in the month.
