Who let the dogs drive?
Have you ever walked through a parking lot and noticed a dog sitting earnestly behind the wheel of a car? They always look like they're thinking, "Today's the day. I'll just push this thing and turn this thing, and go fast!"
We came across a curious video this morning among the Associated Press' daily offerings. It was out of New Zealand, and it showed dogs. Dogs driving. Dogs driving a Mini. (And also driving some sort of mobility-chair training contraption ... Rascal driving a Rascal, perhaps.)
But AP didn't provide a story to go with the video, which left several questions unanswered. Why are the dogs driving? Where are they going? (The park, probably.) And what's this going to do to insurance rates?
A little digging turned up this story out of New Zealand. The whole thing is a publicity stunt for the SPCA there, intended to show the intelligence and trainability of rescue dogs. And of course Mini doesn't mind the publicity either.
Yes, we know it's a stunt. But look at the expressions on their faces!
