Dog treats recalled

Nature's Recipe is voluntarily recalling Oven Baked Biscuits with Real Chicken made at one its U.S. plants because of possible contamination with salmonella bacteria, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has announced.

No pet or consumer illnesses from this product have been reported to date, according to the FDA.

The dog treats are sold in 19-ounce resealable pouches. The affected products include lot codes 2199TP and 2200TP with a "Best If Used By" date of either October 11, 2013 or October 12, 2013.

The recall comes more than a week after Nature's Deli Chicken Jerky Dog Treats, which were distributed through 57 Sam's Club stores in a dozen states, were recalled because the product may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the FDA. The product was distributed in Colorado, Iowa, Idaho, Illinois, Kansas, Missouri, Montana, Nebraska, Oklahoma, South Dakota, Utah and Wyoming.

The UPC bar code on the 2.5-pound bag is 647263800208; the lot number says BEST BY 091913 DEN.

Kasel Associated Industries, of Denver, which makes Nature's Deli, also removed "bully treats" from the market last month because of possible salmonella contamination.
