August marches out with a parade of well-behaved dogs and a troupe of performing house cats. Here's a roundup of those events and others for pet fans.

Pet Adopt-a-thon: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 25, Interbay Urban Center, 1827 15th Ave. W., Seattle. Cats and dogs from Seattle Animal Shelter and Seattle Humane Society will be available for adoption at Interbay Urban Center (in the space between Peet's Coffee and Tea and Whole Foods). Seattle Animal Shelter will offer some specials for the event including "adopt two for the price of one" on kittens and "cats over 6 months free." Adoption fees for other pets vary.

Pit Bulls on Parade: 10 a.m..-3 p.m. Aug. 25, Riverdog Dog Canine Coaching, 1400 19th Ave. N.W., Issaquah. This free event showcases adoptable pit bulls and demonstrations in K9 nose work, fly ball, agility, rally obedience, weight pull and slat mill. There also will be Canine Good Citizen testing. It's free for pit bulls and pit bull mixes and $10 for other breeds. The CGC testing is sponsored by Animal Farm Foundation. For each CGC earned at event, Bullseye Dog Rescue will receive $150. The HUMAnE Spay & Neuter Clinic will be at the event offering $20 microchip IDs from noon-2 p.m. Click on the website for details on the event and also for information about the Responsi-Bull Project.

Wag 'n' Walk: 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Aug. 26, Greenbank Farm, 765 E. Wonn Road, Greenbank, Island County. Whidbey Animals' Improvement Foundation celebrates 22 years of animal rescue efforts with this free event. This year's theme is Dogs in Space. There will be games, contests, vendors, exhibits, demonstrations in dog sports and entertainment. Dogs on leash welcome.

The Amazing Acro-Cats: Times and days vary through Sept. 1, Stone Soup Downstage, 4029 Stone Way N., Seattle. Samantha Martin's troupe of house cats walk tight ropes, jump through hoops, ride skateboards and perform in The Rock-Cats band. Showtimes and dates on the website; $22.

Black Cat Adoption Special: Through Aug. 30, Purrfect Pals Shelter, 230 McRae Road N.E., Arlington, and other adoption locations. Purrfect Pals is reducing the adoption fee to $50 for all black cats who are six months or older. The fee for bonded pairs that include a black cat will be reduced to $100. The cats are spayed/neutered, vaccinated, tested for feline leukemia and have microchip IDs.

Fees Waived on Senior Cat Adoptions: Through Aug. 31, PAWS Cat City, 5200 Roosevelt Way N.E., Suite B, Seattle, or PAWS Companion Animals Shelter, 5305 44th Ave. W., Lynnwood. Adoption fees are being waived for cats that are seven years and older.
