Fun ferrets, cool cats and playful pooches

Find a new furry friend at several adoption events today.

Ferretopia: Now until 5 p.m. Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road N.W., Silverdale. KHS and volunteers are helping Angel Babies Ferret Rescue of Bremerton find homes for ferrets after the sanctuary's founder recently fell ill. Through today, adopters can take home two ferrets and a small-animal enclosure for $50.

Dog Days of Summer: Now until 5 p.m. Kitsap Humane Society, 9167 Dickey Road N.W., Silverdale. The shelter is near capacity for dogs. To avoid overcrowding, it's offering 50 percent off the adoption fee on all adult dogs (ages 1 year and older) at the shelter through today.

Designer Mutt Match and Cool Cats: Now until 3 p.m. PetSmart, 100 108th Ave. N.E., Bellevue. About 100 dogs and cats from several rescue and shelter organizations will be able for adoption at this Animal Alliance of WA event. All the animals are spayed/neutered and vaccinated. Adoption fees are $150-$250 for dogs/puppies and $75-$100 for cats/kittens.
