FDA warning on chicken jerky treats

The Food and Drug Administration has received about 600 complaints that chicken jerky treats from China are causing kidney disease, and in some cases death, in dogs across the United States. But since extensive testing hasn't confirmed a contaminant, the FDA is only warning consumers about a possible problem.

No products have been pulled from the market. Owners are pushing for further action, according to Food Safety News. Read here.

The FDA has published a new set of questions and answers on the issue, which includes what symptoms to look for and what to do if you think your dog has become ill from eating chicken-jerky products. Read the Q&A here.
