Spotlight on adoptable cats and dogs this weekend

Tucker is a 3-year-old black cat with a silky and sleek coat. Adopt this handsome feline or one of the other black or tuxedo (black and white) kitties during the Seattle Humane Society's Acatemy Awards this weekend and the adoption fees will be waived. Photo courtesy of Seattle Humane Society
It's Oscar weekend. Wouldn't it be nice to curl up on the couch with a furry friend to watch the awards show? Here are two pet adoption events that might be able to help you find that perfect pal. Who knows, maybe you'll meet the next movie star like Uggie ("The Artist") or Cosmo ("Beginners"). Both dogs were found at shelters.
Got an event? If you have an upcoming event, share the information with us in an email to tailsofseattle@seatttletimes.com.
Acatemy Awards: Saturday, Feb. 25, and Sunday, Feb. 26, Seattle Humane Society, 13212 S.E. Eastgate Way, Bellevue. A lot of tuxedos will be on the red carpet for the Academy Awards this weekend. Seattle Humane Society marks the occasion with a tuxedo deal. The adoption fees will be waived on all tuxedo (black and white) cats and black cats one year and older. To add to the festivities, the staff will be dressed in bow ties and boas for the special event.
Happy Tails Adoption Event: Noon, Sunday, Feb. 26, Riverdog Canine Coaching, 1400 19th Ave. N.W., Issaquah. Dogs and puppies from rescue groups and shelters throughout the state will available for adoption. All the pooches are spayed/neutered. Shelter staff, volunteers and dog trainers will be on hand to answer questions and offer advice. There is a free pre-adoption workshop from 10-11:30 a.m. with advice on how to choose the right dog for your home and family. Space is limited for the workshop. Click here for details on the workshop.
