Storm All-Stars Sue Bird and Lauren Jackson are expected to return from injury to the play the 2014 season. They were finally told when that would be on Thursday.

An ownership crisis in Los Angeles delayed the WNBA’s release of its schedule. A group highlighted by NBA legend Magic Johnson announced Wednesday it had purchased the Sparks and will continue the team’s play at Staples Center, moving the WNBA ahead with its plans.

Seattle tips off its 2014 season on May 16 at KeyArena against the Sparks. The Storm will play 10 of its first 13 games on the road.

Jackson (hamstring) and Bird (knee) underwent offseason surgeries in 2013, missing the WNBA season. They are currently playing overseas and have said they will return for the 10th anniversary since the Storm won its first championship in October 2004.

The league’s All-Star Game is July 19 in Phoenix.

Entering its 18th season, the WNBA schedule was adjusted so the postseason would conclude in time for players to join their national teams for the FIBA World Championship in Turkey (Sept. 27 through Oct. 5).
