PHOENIX — Elena Delle Donne outscored double-dunking Brittney Griner and had the sixth-best rookie debut in league history, scoring 22 points to lead the Chicago Sky to a 102-80 victory over the Phoenix Mercury on Monday in the opener for both teams.

Ex-Delaware standout Delle Donne, the second pick behind Griner in this year's draft, made 9 of 21 shots and had eight rebounds.

"Today was absolutely amazing," Delle Donne said.

Former Baylor star Griner, who was in early foul trouble, scored 17 points on 7-for-11 shooting and had eight rebounds.

The 6-foot-8 Griner became the third player to dunk in a WNBA game and is the first with two slams in the same game. Candace Parker, who has two, and Lisa Leslie are the others with dunks in a regular-season game.

"I wish it was in a win, but whenever I can dunk, the crowd got into it," Griner said.

Epiphanny Prince led Chicago with 26 points. Courtney Vandersloot, a guard who played at Gonzaga and Kentwood High in Covington, added 14 points for the Sky.
