WNBA power rankings

Jayda Evans' WNBA power rankings

WNBA power rankings
Team (2009 record) Comment
1. Phoenix (23-11) Trade acquisition Candice Dupree finally gets proper introduction to WNBA after blowing in Chicago's wind.
2. Los Angeles (18-16) No Lisa Leslie could be like unhitching a Ferrari Enzo from the blocks, especially now with veteran Ticha Penicherio at the helm.
3. Seattle (20-14) If Storm is finally healthy when postseason arrives, could advance past opening round.
4. New York (13-21) Most fashionable team with least fashionable coach is a WNBA 'do' on red carpet ride to WNBA Finals.
5. Indiana (22-12) Will take time to click because of late player arrivals, yet core remains strong enough to battle for a repeat run to the Finals.
6. Connecticut (16-18) Whether UConn players can beat WNBA teams will finally be answered.
7. Atlanta (18-16) Chamique Holdsclaw's trade request shook the Dream, but Brazilians Iziane Castro Marques and Erika de Souza a strong foundation.
8. San Antonio (15-19) The Silver Stars are the sleeper team this summer — talented roster, but too many question marks.
9. Minnesota (14-20) Is prodigal daughter Lindsay Whalen's return enough to offset injuries to stars Seimone Augustus and Candice Wiggins?
10. Washington (16-18) Mystics removed banners for attendance records, but with Alana Beard out don't expect them to replace with championship banners.
11. Tulsa (18-16) Franchise moved from Detroit to Tulsa, but pillars Cheryl Ford, Deanna Nolan and Katie Smith didn't follow. Starting over won't be easy.
12. Chicago (16-18) The Sky won't be bad, but injuries and questionable leadership from the start means this team needs to prove itself.
