Starting pitcher Blake Beavan allowed five runs in five innings of work and the Tucson Padres beat the visiting Tacoma Rainiers 5-3 in Pacific Coast League action Wednesday night.
Franklin Gutierrez went 1 for 4 as the designated hitter. He is batting .211.
Beavan is 4-6 with a 5.45 ERA with the Rainiers this season.
The series is part of the last homestand for the PCL in Tucson as the Padres are moving to El Paso, Texas, next year. Wednesday’s attendance at Kino Stadium was 1,750.

In front of 2,029 at Everett Memorial Stadium, the AquaSox (36-29) pounded out 17 hits in a win over Vancouver in a Northwest League game. Center fielder Michael Faulkner was 3 for 4 with four runs scored. Third baseman Justin Seager was 3 for 5.
