DETROIT —

Sebastien Bourdais would be thrilled if his 100th IndyCar start sparked a turnaround.

The Frenchman is 21st in points and hasn't cracked the top 10 in any of five races this year.

His milestone start is scheduled to be Saturday the Detroit Grand Prix, which is set to become the first track to host two, full-length IndyCar races over two days.

"I am hoping to kind of turn things around this weekend," Bourdais said Friday. "It's definitely not been the kind of start we were hoping for in 2013, but there's still a long way to go."

The 34-year-old Dragon Racing driver has 31 career victories, putting him in a seventh-place tie with Dario Franchitti and Paul Tracy on the all-time list. But he doesn't have a win since 2007, when he won seven Champ Car races, in part because he took a run at competing as an F1 and SuperLeague Formula driver.

He finished 11th in the IndyCar opening race this year at St. Petersburg, finished between 14th and 16th in the next three races before plummeting to 29th at the Indianapolis 500.

In the Motor City, he is holding out hope he and his team can get his car set up well enough to give him a shot.

"If we get the car right, we will have no reservations," Bourdais said. "Mentally all that matters to us right now is to get the car figured out."
