RICHMOND, Va. —

Ricky Stenhouse Jr. has secured a familiar sponsor for seven races over the next two seasons.

Nationwide Insurance announced Thursday it will be the primary sponsor for Stenhouse's Roush Fenway Racing No. 17 Ford in the Sprint Cup Series for three races this season and four races in 2014. Nationwide also will serve as an associate sponsor on Stenhouse's car for all the other races this season and next.

Nationwide is already in the sixth year of a seven-year deal as the title sponsor for NASCAR's second-tier Nationwide Series.

"We've had a 15-year presence in NASCAR and this is the first time we've sponsored a car in any NASCAR series," said Matt Jauchius, chief marketing officer for Nationwide Insurance.

Stenhouse, a two-time Nationwide Series champion, will have Nationwide as his primary sponsor at Bristol on Aug. 24, Richmond on Sept. 7 and Talladega on Oct. 20.

Its race dates for 2014 have not yet been determined.
