MOORESVILLE, N.C. —

Dale Earnhardt Jr. has tweaked his four-race Nationwide Series schedule.

Earnhardt pulled out of the May 4 race at Talladega Superspeedway and replaced it with the Sept. 14 race at Chicagoland Speedway.

Hendrick Motorsports teammate Kasey Kahne will replace Earnhardt in the JR Motorsports entry at Talladega. Both cars are sponsored by Great Clips - Earnhardt in the No. 88 and Kahne in the No. 5.

"Kasey and I were chatting about our Nationwide Series schedules, and I was looking for more track time at a place like Chicago," Earnhardt said. "Kasey mentioned how he would love a shot at winning at Talladega. Fortunately we have a partner like Great Clips that was willing to work with us. One of our 2013 goals at JR Motorsports is to be a better asset to Hendrick Motorsports. For me personally, this scheduling change helps us do just that."

Earnhardt already has driven two of his four races this season. He finished fourth at Daytona on Feb. 23 and seventh at Las Vegas last Saturday. His remaining slate also includes the April 12 event at Texas Motor Speedway.

Kahne, scheduled to compete in 11 Nationwide races this season, is sharing the seat with Brad Sweet.
