Washington State guard Brett Kingma, who joined the basketball team this season after transferring from Oregon, was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of possession of marijuana less than 40 grams, and minor exhibiting the effects of having consumed alcohol in a public place.

Pullman Police Sgt. Dan Dornes said officers approached Kingma at 1:53 a.m. after Kingma, a graduate of Jackson High School in Mill Creek, was seen "staggering all over the sidewalk."

Dornes said police found Kingma, 20, to be in possession of "several grams" of marijuana, though fewer than 40. Both alleged offenses are misdemeanors.

A WSU spokesperson said coaches are aware of the situation.
