Davis shines as Hornets down Bobcats, 97-82

Anthony Davis had 22 points, nine rebounds and blocked a shot, and the New Orleans Hornets defeated the Charlotte Bobcats 97-82 in a preseason game Tuesday night.

Robin Lopez added 18 points, 13 rebounds and three blocks for New Orleans, while Ryan Anderson was 5 of 6 from 3-point range, finishing with 15 points.

Rookie Austin Rivers scored 13 points and Al-Farouq Aminu 12, while Greivis Vasquez had 11 assists.

Ben Gordon had 15 points for Charlotte, while Byron Mullens hit four 3s and finished with 14, but left with a hyperextended left knee in the fourth quarter. Team officials said they expected his injury to be re-evaluated Wednesday. Kemba Walker and rookie Michael Kidd-Gilchrist each scored 10 points.

Down 57-46 at halftime, the Hornets surged in front for good by opening the third quarter with a 12-0 run during which Davis and Rivers combining for seven points.
