Miami Dolphins starting linebacker Kevin Burnett was a late scratch for Friday night's preseason opener against Tampa Bay.

Burnett took part in warmups but didn't return with his teammates for the start of the game. Gary Guyton started in his place.

The Dolphins already were without quarterback David Garrard, who will have knee surgery, his agent confirmed Friday. Among the other scratches for Miami were wide receivers Brian Hartline (leg) and Clyde Gates (leg).
