LONDON —

British police say they've caught up with one of two people suspected of stealing an Australian sprinter's shoes from a training center in southern England.

Athlete Andrew McCabe's training bag disappeared from the center in Tonbridge, about 38 miles (62km) south of London's Olympic Stadium, on Friday. It contained his running spikes, team uniform and cell phone.

Kent Police said in a statement Sunday that they had arrested a 28-year-old man late Saturday night following a public appeal and that "a number of items have been recovered."

Police said the suspect has been released on bail.
