The San Diego Padres activated left-hander Joe Thatcher from the 15-day disabled list on Wednesday and optioned outfielder Blake Tekotte to Double-A San Antonio.

Thatcher has not pitched for San Diego this season after having surgery on his left shoulder in early May. He was on a rehab assignment in Triple-A Tucson prior to being activated. In 65 games last season, Thatcher had a 1.29 ERA in relief.

Tekotte played in one game in his second stint with the Padres this season, getting three hits on Tuesday against Los Angeles.
