Padres' Eckstein leaves with bruised rib

San Diego Padres second baseman David Eckstein left Sunday's game against the Houston Astros in the fifth inning with a bruised left rib.

HOUSTON —

San Diego Padres second baseman David Eckstein left Sunday's game against the Houston Astros in the fifth inning with a bruised left rib.

Eckstein was hit by a pitch from Roy Oswalt in the fourth inning. He fell on the ground in pain, then got up and went to first base.

The club said Eckstein is day to day.
