Savannah State defeats Talladega 78-70 in OT

Rashad Hassan scored four of his 12 points in overtime to lead Savannah State to a 78-70 victory over Talladega on Monday night.

SAVANNAH, Ga. —

Rashad Hassan scored four of his 12 points in overtime to lead Savannah State to a 78-70 victory over Talladega on Monday night.

The Tigers (8-8) dominated overtime, outscoring Talladega 11-3 in the extra period.

Talladega (11-6) held a 67-59 lead with 1:06 remaining in the game before Savannah State scored the final eight points to force overtime.

Jovonni Shuler hit two layups and a free throw, Raye Bailey hit a jumper and Chris Linton sent the game to overtime with a free throw with 28 seconds left.

Talladega led by 11 points with 6:24 remaining in the game.

Shuler and Tracy Rankins scored 13 points each to lead Savannah State. Patrick Hardy added 10 points.

Jerel Davis led Talladega with 19 points, followed by Tarium Taylor with 16 points. Meshon Lewis had 10 points and 11 rebounds.
