Hawks sign wide receiver Bumpus

The Seahawks signed wide receiver Michael Bumpus to the 53-man active roster on Saturday in time for him to be eligible to play in Sunday's game against San Francisco.

The Seahawks signed wide receiver Michael Bumpus to the 53-man active roster on Saturday in time for him to be eligible to play in Sunday's game against San Francisco.

Seattle waived receiver Samie Parker to make room for Bumpus on the roster. Parker was one of two players the Seahawks signed this week to play receiver, a position that has been depleted by injuries to Bobby Engram, Nate Burleson and Ben Obomanu. Parker previously played for Kansas City and had no experience with Seattle's offense or its terminology.

Bumpus is a rookie from Washington State, who signed with the Seahawks as an undrafted free agent and was one of the team's more productive receivers during exhibition games in August.
