Kali Bennett, a 6-foot-5 forward out of Ventura, Calif., made a verbal commitment today to play at the University of Washington, according to the Web site, HoopGurlz.com.
Bennett visited the UW last weekend, then canceled recruiting visits to Michitan State and Hawaii. Bennett's brother Zack is a freshman on the UW crew team.
"I didn't want to wait,'' she told HoopGurlz.com. "I already knew where I wanted t go.''
She was ranked as the No. 35 prospect in the nation by the site. It is the fifth verbal commitment for the Huskies' 2007 class, following Sarah Morton, a 5-8 guard from Monroe; Candice Nichols, 5-11 guard from Long Beach, Calif; Mackenzie Argens, a 6-3 center from Seattle; and Katelan Redmon, a 6-foot guard from Spokane.
None of the players can sign a letter of intent until November.
