Connections
There are no Washington players on UConn's roster, and vice versa. One notable player who saw time for both schools is O'Dea High grad Doug Wrenn, who played at UConn in the 1999-2000 season before transferring to UW, where he played two years.
Noteworthy
UConn finished the season ranked No. 2 in both polls. ... The UW Huskies last played in a regional in Washington, D.C., in 1998, beating Xavier and Richmond to advance to the Sweet 16. Those games were held at the same arena where Friday's will be held, only it was known then as the MCI Center. The name was officially changed to the Verizon Center earlier this month. ... UConn coach Jim Calhoun (34-10) has the third-most wins of any coach in the NCAA tournament since 1990. ... UConn was a No. 2 seed when it beat UW in 1998. That is the highest-seeded team UW has faced in the NCAA tournament.
