In the wake of the coaching change, the Sonics waived guard Mateen Cleaves this morning.

Cleaves, signed last season as an unrestricted free agent, averaged 9.3 minutes and 3.4 points in 19 games this season.

The Sonics were facing a deadline with Cleaves, in that they had to guarantee his contract for the remainder of the year by today or waive him.
