The San Francisco 49ers will interview Scot McCloughan, the Seahawks' director of college scouting, for a top personnel position akin to general manager.
The 49ers confirmed that McCloughan was to meet with team executives today at team headquarters in Santa Clara, Calif.
The 49ers are seeking to fill the job after firing general manager Terry Donahue earlier this month. The 49ers received permission from the Seahawks to interview McCloughan, who has been with the Seahawks since 2000.
McCloughan is also thought to be a candidate for Seahawks vice president of player personnel, a position vacated by Ted Thompson when he left to become Green Bay's general manager.
Most of the Seahawks' coaches and scouts — the most notable exception being coach Mike Holmgren — are in Mobile, Ala., this week for the Senior Bowl for top college prospects.
McCloughan is the fourth candidate the 49ers will have interviewed.
The new head of personnel will run the draft, oversee the scouting department and sign free agents, according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
