Jason Kidd is four triple-doubles away from passing Larry Bird and moving into fourth place on the NBA's all-time triple-double list. Kidd registered triple-doubles on Dec. 26 and 27 at Detroit and Indiana. He was the first player to do it on back-to-back nights since he did it on Dec. 17-18, 1999.
The week ahead Today: Sonics at Sacramento (6 p.m., KONG). First of four meetings against the Kings, who have the best record in the NBA. Wednesday: Cleveland at Toronto (4 p.m.). Vince Carter, the leading All-Star vote-getter, squares off against his heir apparent, LeBron James. Thursday: Houston at New York (4 p.m., TNT). Rockets coach Jeff Van Gundy returns to Madison Square Garden with Yao Ming. Friday: Indiana at Dallas (5 p.m., ESPN2). Jermaine O'Neal considered playing for Mavericks last summer but stayed with the Pacers.
