Redmond boys basketball team

The No. 8 Mustangs, coached by Michael Kelly, opened with a pair of victories last week, beating last year's 3A runner-up Issaquah, 76-56, and No. 7 Shorewood, 47-45. Senior guard Christian Yeager led the way, scoring 35 points against the Eagles and 26, including the winning jumper with eight seconds to play, against the Thunderbirds.

Stars of the week are selected by The Seattle Times staff and published Tuesdays, but can be chosen only once each sports season. Nominations may be e-mailed by Sunday night to sports@seattletimes.com with name, school and accomplishments.
