Columbus Crew beats visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1
The Columbus Crew routed the visiting Los Angeles Galaxy 4-1 in a Major League Soccer match.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Justin Meram and Ethan Finlay scored in the first half to lead the Columbus Crew to a 4-1 victory over the Los Angeles Galaxy in a Major League Soccer match Saturday.
Meram opened the scoring in the 23rd minute for the Crew (7-8-9), and Finlay made the score 2-0 in the 33rd minute.
Gyasi Zardes of the Galaxy (9-5-7) closed the gap to 2-1 in the 49th minute.
Ben Speas got the Crew’s third goal in the 75th minute, and Giancarlo Gonzalez capped the team’s highest scoring output of the season in the 84th minute.

Liam Ridgewell scored his first MLS goal for Portland in the Timbers’ draw with New England.
Ridgewell stole the ball near midfield, dribbled past two defenders and slotted home a shot from inside the penalty area in the 65th minute. He joined Portland on June 25 from West Bromwich Albion of the English Premier League after signing a designated-player contract.
Charlie Davies of New England scored in the 27th minute.

Marco Di Vaio scored in the 84th minute and Montreal beat Chicago to snap a seven-match losing streak. The Impact (4-14-5) has the worst record in the league.

Dom Dwyer scored twice on penalty kicks in the first 33 minutes to give Sporting Kansas City control of the match.

Tesho Akindele scored three goals and Fabian Castillo added two in FC Dallas’ rout of San Jose.
Whitecaps 0, at Chivas USA 0
Vancouver’s David Ousted made four saves as the Whitecaps extended their streak of not allowing a goal to 321 minutes. Ousted has seven shutouts this season.
