VANCOUVER, B.C. – Jose Mari scored two goals three minutes apart in the second half and the Colorado Rapids beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 on Saturday.

Mari scored in the 79th and 82nd minutes — shortly after Vancouver’s Matias Laba was sent off for a deliberate hand ball that produced his second yellow card of the match.

In the next minute, Mari sliced home a left-footed shot off the goal post. With the Whitecaps still reeling, Mari scored on a chip shot from the top of the area.

Darren Mattocks scored for the Whitecaps in the 67th minute.
