HOUSTON — Warren Creavalle and Giles Barnes scored seven minutes apart in the second half to help the Houston Dynamo beat the Vancouver Whitecaps 2-1 in a Major League Soccer match Saturday night.

After Barnes beat goalkeeper Joe Cannon with a header in the 56th minute, Creavalle connected in the 63rd minute for the Dynamo (2-1)

The victory helped the Dynamo extend its home unbeaten streak to 27 matches, dating to July 2011. Houston has not lost at its new home, BBVA Compass Stadium

Ricardo Clark set up Barnes' tying goal with a pass into the area. Barnes moved ahead of his defender and headed a shot just inside the left post for his first MLS goal.

On the winner, Adam Moffat's shot from outside the area was stopped by Cannon, but he couldn't hold on. The ball fell in front of Creavalle, who scored his first goal of the season and the sixth of his career.

Darren Mattocks scored in the 36th minute for the Whitecaps (2-1), who missed being the first visiting MLS team to win in Houston since Columbus in June 2011.

Cannon made two saves.

Tally Hall stopped four shots for Houston.

Impact rises to 4-0

MONTREAL — Marco Di Vaio scored in the 14th minute and the Montreal Impact beat the New York Red Bulls 1-0 to improve to 4-0.

New York (0-2-2) finished the match short a man after defender Brandon Barklage was sent off for taking down Patrice Bernier at the edge of the penalty area in the 74th minute.

The Red Bulls had a slight edge in ball possession, but the Impact dominated the scoring chances and wasted several opportunities to pad the lead before a crowd of 26,259.
