Sporting Kansas City moved back into sole possession of first place in the Eastern Conference with its fifth road victory of the season Saturday at Columbus Crew Stadium.

Jacob Peterson continued his torrid play of late with a sixth-minute goal, while Teal Bunbury notched his first MLS goal in nearly two months and iced a 2-0 victory off a feed from Kei Kamara in the 82nd minute.

Peterson, who scored four goals as a rookie with the Colorado Rapids, had managed only five more goals in his next 118 league games.

But Peterson, whose minutes have increased in Bobby Convey's absence, recorded his third goal in the past six games for the early game-winner.

Sporting KC (11-5-3) improved to 5-3-2 on the road this season — the second most wins in MLS behind only the San Jose Earthquakes, who are 6-3-2 away from Buck Shaw Stadium.

Chelsea's tour

roster announced

Chelsea of the English Premier League announced its roster for its exhibition tour of the United States, which includes Wednesday's game against Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field.

Among the 30 players set to take part in the four-match tour are veteran midfielder Frank Lampard, goalkeeper Petr Cech and former England captain John Terry, a defender who was acquitted Friday of racially abusing an opponent in a league match in October.

The tour features the first soccer match at the new Yankee Stadium, with Chelsea taking on Paris Saint-Germain on July 22 after opening the tour in Seattle.

The Champions League winners will also face the MLS All-Stars in Philadelphia on July 25 and head to Miami for a July 28 match against AC Milan.

• David Beckham and Robbie Keane each scored two goals to lead the Los Angeles Galaxy over the host Portland Timbers, 5-3. Landon Donovan had a goal and an assist for the Galaxy (8-10-2), which handled the Timbers defense easily.

• Chris Wondolowski earned a hat trick and the San Jose Earthquakes widened their lead atop the Western Conference with a 5-0 home victory against Real Salt Lake.

Wondolowski scored in the 19th, 72nd and 80th minutes to extend his league-leading goal total to 17 on the year.

San Jose is four points clear of Salt Lake in the conference standings and four points ahead of Kansas City in the Supporters' Shield chase.

• Rookie midfielder Luis Silva scored in the eighth minute and Toronto FC downed the New England Revolution on the road, 1-0.

• Midfielder Pavel Pardo scored on an early free kick and Chicago snapped a 221-minute scoreless streak on the way to a 1-0 victory at home over Vancouver.

• Carlos Valdes' goal in the 91st minute lifted the Philadelphia Union past the Montreal Impact 2-1 in Philadelphia.

Lionard Pajoy also scored for the Union (6-9-2), which won its third in a row and fourth in five games.

• Fabian Castillo scored in the 81st minute and FC Dallas ended a 13-game winless streak with a 2-1 victory at Colorado.

Castillo assisted on the game-tying goal by Carlos Rodriguez in the 60th minute. Rodriguez also had an assist for FC Dallas (4-9-7).

Omar Cummings scored in the 50th minute for Colorado (7-11-1).
