KANSAS CITY, Kan. — Kei Kamara scored on a diving header late in the first half and Sporting Kansas City beat the David Beckham-less Los Angeles Galaxy 1-0 Saturday to improve to 5-0.
Sporting KC is the first Major League Soccer team to begin a season with five regulation victories since Los Angeles opened 12-0 in 1996, the inaugural season for MLS.
Los Angeles is 1-3 after winning the MLS Cup last season.
Midfielder Beckham has been bothered by a series of nagging injuries and didn't make the trip.
Kansas City goalkeeper Jimmy Nielsen did not have to make a save.
