CARSON, Calif. — Rodney Wallace scored to lead Costa Rica to a 1-0 victory over the United States on Friday, giving Jurgen Klinsmann a loss in his second match as U.S. soccer coach.
The Costa Ricans took the lead in the 65th minute of the exhibition match when Wallace scored off a rebound from a Tim Howard save.
The goal was the first for the Maryland-raised defender, who made his debut for Costa Rica.
The United States was lively in the opening 20 minutes, but as the match wore on the team was drawn into a physical battle that featured five yellow cards.
