MLS power rankings

Joshua Mayers' weekly MLS power rankings

Latest from the Sounders FC blog

Joshua Mayers' MLS power rankings
Rankings appear Wednesdays during the regular season
Team (prev. rank) Comment
1 L.A. Galaxy (1) Now it's hold-on time as L.A. potentially plays its next 4 matches without Donovan & Buddle
2 Columbus Crew (2) One of two teams with a flawless record at home will play four of its next five on the road
3 San Jose 'Quakes (3) Earned a workmanlike point in N.E., can they keep it up in front of 36K at Qwest Field on Sat.?
4 Real Salt Lake (7) Don't look now, but the defending champs have won 3 straight and lead the league in scoring
5 Colorado Rapids (6) Won two games on the road last year. Have already won three games in five tries away in '10
6 N.Y. Red Bulls (4) Still lead the East, but have lost two games in a row and have a negative goal differential (-1)
7 Houston Dynamo (5) Got roughed up by Salt Lake, but two home games against lowly D.C. and Philly will be nice
8 Sounders FC (11) Early struggles will be all but forgotten with a convincing home win against the Earthquakes
9 FC Dallas (8) Unbeaten in five games (2-0-3) and look especially sharp with GK Kevin Hartman as a starter
10 Toronto FC (9) Escaped road trip to L.A. with a point thanks to four saves in last 17 minutes by GK Stefan Frei
11 Chicago Fire (12) In desperate need of a spark during a winless month of May, but get three straight at home
12 K.C. Wizards (13) Many remember his "miss of the century," but Kei Kamara has five goals in 10 shots on goal
13 Chivas USA (10) Consistently inconsistent Goats are now dead last in the West, but would be third in the East
14 N.E. Revolution (14) Winless now in six games (0-4-2). Dreadful offense ruining a great season by GK Preston Burpo
15 Philadel. Union (15) Got a stoppage-time equalizer from No. 1 draft pick Danny Mwanga to earn a point at home
16 D.C. United (16) Been competitive in a pair of 1-0 losses recently, but four goals scored is by far MLS worst
