RENTON — Seattle Sounders FC released five players after Friday's practice but will replenish its roster with at least four new arrivals when the team opens the second phase of training camp next week in Southern California.

Midfielder Hugo Alcaraz-Cuellar, defender-midfielders Kenji Treschuk and Kevin Sakuda, defender John Fishbaugher and forward Youssouf Kante were let go. All five played in Friday's 11-on-11 practice scrimmage, then were informed of their release after the session ended.

Sounders FC will add the following players to the camp roster next week, with more expected to follow: third-round draft pick Jared Karkas, former Kansas City Wizards forward Ryan Pore, former D.C. United forward Quavas Kirk and first-year forward Jeff Clark, who played at Concordia College in California.

"We're moving forward," Sounders FC coach Sigi Schmid said. "Some guys have done well and they're going to continue to be with us, and some guys, we're going to move forward on and look at other players."

There are now 30 players on the roster, but six are dealing with injuries, one is not under contract and one, Karkas, will report next week.

Tickets on sale

Single-game tickets for Sounders FC home games go on sale March 2.

Prices and availability have yet to be announced, but season-ticket sales are approaching the 19,000 mark and group sales (20 or more) are now under way, in addition to seven-game ticket packs.

It's not known whether the club will open seating in the upper decks at Qwest Field for the regular-season opener March 19.
