GANGNEUNG, South Korea — Apolo Anton Ohno of Seattle earned the men's overall title Sunday at the World Short Track Speedskating Championships.

Five-time Olympic medalist Ohno led the overall classification at worlds for the first time. He finished with 68 points to defeat South Koreans Lee Ho-suk (63 points) and Song Kyung-taek (62).

Ohno, 25, finished third overall at worlds last year and was second in 2005 and 2001.

Ohno won the 500-meter final Saturday. On Sunday, he was runner-up to Lee in the 1,000 and finished third in the 3,000.

Ohno has won at least one Olympic or world-championships gold medal in each of the last four years. He earned Olympic gold in 2006 and 2002.

China's Wang Meng, the women's overall champion, won the 1,000 meters for her third gold in three days.

Skier Vonn eyes title

CRANS-MONTANA, Switzerland — Lindsey Vonn of Vail, Colo., is gearing up as the World Cup ski season winds down.

The 23-year-old Vonn was third in the individual super-combi, 0.26 seconds behind winner Anja Paerson of Sweden. Paerson's time in the combined downhill and slalom race was 2 minutes, 30.60 seconds.

Vonn leads the World Cup overall standings with four races remaining. She has 1,263 points, 157 more than Maria Riesch of Germany. Riesch won the season super-combi title.

Notes

• Manfred Moelgg of Italy won a World Cup slalom in Kranjska Gora, Slovenia. Bode Miller of Bretton Woods, N.H., who leads the men's overall standings, did not compete.

Moelgg's two-run time was 1:42.29. Runner-up Ivica Kostelic of Croatia was 0.41 behind.

• Bill Demong of Vermontville, N.Y., set a U.S. record by finishing third in the nordic combined World Cup standings. Germany's Ronny Ackermann won the title.
