The Seattle University men’s soccer earned the program and school’s first national ranking since returning to NCAA Division I competition, ranked No. 22 in the National Soccer Coaches Association of America Division I national poll.

The women’s soccer team received votes in the same poll at the end of the 2013 season but didn’t make the rankings.

“To have broken into the top 25 is exciting — for our program, our team, our alums, the university and our students,” said coach Pete Fewing.

Notes

• When Kennesaw State cross-country coach Joel Pearson, 28, completed his 4-mile run Monday, he also became the youngest person ever to run every day for 20 straight years (that’s 7,025 straight days), according to the United States Running Streak Association. These runs were completed in three countries, 42 states, and two provinces. Pearson, who ran for Ferndale and Mead high schools as well as The Evergreen State College, eclipsed the mark held by Seattle website developer John H. Wallace III. Wallace, 38, just two weeks ago became the youngest runner to have run for 9,000 straight days.

• Seattle U’s Junior Gus Arroyo and sophomore Lila Rice have been named the Western Athletic Conference male and female cross country athletes of the Week.
