Chad Kjemhus pitched 72 / 3 shutout innings in relief for Portland, allowing just two hits.
Chase Fields and Brock Carpenter each drove in a run for Seattle U (11-12).
Oregon beat host Gonzaga 14-5 in a game called after the eighth inning due to a travel curfew for Oregon (21-8).
Gonzaga (10-18) has lost four consecutive home games. Caleb Wood and Nick Brooks homered for the Bulldogs.
• Host Cal State Monterey Bay (28-5) swept a doubleheader from Central Washington, 4-1 and 2-0. Sammy Morris had three hits for the Wildcats (15-12).
Washington’s men, ranked third this week by USRowing, host Brown, Drexel, Oregon State and Western Washington on Saturday in the Husky Open. Harvard and California are ranked 1-2.
In the women’s rankings, Washington is sixth and Washington State 14th. Both teams compete this weekend in the San Diego Crew Classic. California is ranked No. 1.
In the Division II women’s rankings, Western Washington is third.
