EDINBURG, Texas — This is how to take the home team’s crowd out of the game.

Score the first 11 points of the game and never give the other team a hint that it can come back.

That’s how the Seattle University men’s basketball team handled Texas-Pan American on Saturday in a 64-46 Western Athletic Conference victory.

The game was 5½ minutes old before the Broncs finally scored, on a three-pointer, to cut their deficit to 11-3. Texas-Pan American never got any closer than that.

Seattle U (9-7, 1-2 WAC) led 30-17 at halftime and stretched the lead to as many as 26 points in the second half.

Deshaun Sunderhaus had 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Redhawks. The 6-foot-9 sophomore forward tied his season high in scoring, which he set on Thursday against New Mexico State.

Isiah Umipig added 16 points, six rebounds and seven assists for Seattle University.

The Redhawks won the rebounding battle 43-24

Texas Pan-American (4-14, 0-3) was led by Javorn Farrell’s 14 points.
