Free throws help Seattle University women
Redhawks shoot twice as many free throws as their hosts
MILWAUKEE — Shooting twice as many free throws as its hosts, the Seattle University women's basketball team was able to score a 63-56 road victory over Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Wednesday.
The Redhawks (13-9) connected on 20 of 28 free throws while the Panthers were just 12 of 14.
Kacie Sowell topped Seattle U with 18 points and nine rebounds. She hit seven of her 13 shots from the field. Ashley Ward really benefited from the free throws, going 8 for 8 at the line on the way to 14 points, with 12 of them in the second half.
Ashley Green scored 14 for the Panthers (6-14).
The Redhawks are off until Feb. 9 when they play at Portland State.
