Wild-card watch: Seahawks one win away from playoff berth

Things are a mess in the NFC East, but they're pretty straightforward for Seattle.

If the Seahawks' win one of their final two games, they are assured of a playoff spot.

That's because Seattle has a one-game lead over all the other teams who can be considered candidates for a wild-card berth. If Seattle wins one of the next two games, it will have 10 wins and can finish no worse than tied for a wild-card berth. The Giants are the only team in the NFC that could conceivably finish 10-6, not win their division and win a tiebreaker against Seattle for a wild-card berth because the Giants would have a better conference record. If that were to happen, Seattle would be guaranteed to earn the second wild-card berth (No. 6 seed) no matter how many other teams finish 10-6 in the NFC. The Seahawks would have a tiebreaker advantage over all of them with head-to-head victories over the Bears and the Vikings (Note: The Cowboys don't factor into the equation because if they were to finish 10-6, they would be division champs and not a wild-card consideration).
