Seahawks' turnover a new leaf vs. Jets
That's something coach Pete Carroll likes to say to emphasize the importance of turnovers in the game of football.
And when Marshawn Lynch lost a fumble on the first play of the second quarter, the Seahawks were in trouble. They had committed two turnovers in the first 16 minutes of the game, forced none.
Since Carroll took over as Seahawks' coach, turnovers have been the most consistent weather vane for Seattle's fortunes. Seattle is 2-13 under Carroll when it commits more turnovers than the opponent.
Seattle is now 13-2 when it forces more turnovers than it commits after taking the ball off the Jets three times in the final three quarters and finishing with a 3-2 turnover advantage in Sunday's 28-7 victory.
Here's a breakdown according to turnover margin of Carroll's tenure in Seattle:
| Commit more TOs than opponent | Commit fewer TOs than opponent | Commit same TOs as opponent | |
| 2010 | 1-7 | 4-0 | 2-2 |
| 2011 | 0-5 | 6-2 | 1-2 |
| 2012 | 1-2 | 3-0 | 2-2 |
