Seahawks activate CB Walter Thurmond
Thurmond began 2011 as a nickel cornerback and started two games after Marcus Trufant was lost for the year with a back injury after playing four games.
Thurmond suffered a broken leg in the first half of Seattle's game at Cleveland in Week 7. He reinjured that leg in March, and had to start his rehabilitation all over.
He remained on the Physically Unable to Perform (PUP) list in August and through the start of the regular season, which required him to miss at least the first six games. He began practicing with the team on Oct. 22, and Seattle had until Monday to activate him.
Thurmond is 6 feet, but has a wingspan that is the same as Richard Sherman, who is 6-3.
He takes the spot on the 53-man roster that opened up when the Seahawks waived Charly Martin on Tuesday. Martin was re-signed to the team's practice squad Wednesday after he cleared waivers.
