Russell Wilson gives Carolina the 3rd degree
Russell Wilson's performance paradox
By Danny O'Neil | The Seattle Times
CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Nothing was given more emphasis last week than Seattle's third-down production.
That's also the area where the Seahawks demonstrated the most improvement, which is important because one of the biggest questions when it comes to starting a rookie quarterback is if he's the kind of player that repeats mistakes or learns from him.
Coach Pete Carroll saw only one way to interpret the way Wilson responded.
"All of the scrutiny and all of the attention and the focus was on that aspect of our game," Carroll said, "and we dumped it on him all week long, and he came through. Again, he fixed something that we challenged him to fix. I thought he was big time."
Here's a game-by-game look at Wilson's third-down passing performance:
| Cmp-Att | Pass yards | TD-INT | Sacks | Passing 1st downs | |
| Game 1 | 5-9 | 34 | 1-0 | 1 | 3 |
| Game 2 | 5-8 | 39 | 0-0 | 1 | 3 |
| Game 3 | 1-7 | 3 | 0-0 | 0 | 0 |
| Game 4 | 0-3 | 0 | 0-1 | 2 | 0 |
| Game 5 | 9-10 | 73 | 1-0 | 0 | 5 |
