Seahawks History: The difference between 0-1 and 0-2
| How many seasons | Average win total |
Playoff berths | |
| 1-0 | 13 | 8.6 | 7 |
| 0-1 | 23 | 7.0 | 4 |
| 2-0 | 9 | 9 | 5 |
| 1-1 | 11 | 8 | 6 |
| 0-2 | 15 | 6.53 | 0 |
The one thing about starting 0-1 is that Seattle has lots of practice. This is the 24th time in franchise history Seattle lost its season-opener.
That is not a death sentence for a season. Seattle lost its season opener in 2005, which turned out to be the best season in franchise history. Seattle has rebounded to make the playoffs in four of previous 23 seasons it lost its season-opener.
Things become a little more dire when the team starts out 0-2, which is not all that surprising. Of the 16 times the Seahawks have lost their first two games, they have rallied to have a winning record three times, but they have never made the playoffs. None of these results are all that surprising, and nothing done in September can't be undone.
