Game thread: Seahawks 21, Raiders 3

The loudest cheers during Seattle's player introductions were for the last player introduced: quarterback Russell Wilson.

The Seahawks captains for the pre-game coin toss were Zach Miller and Chris Clemons -- who are former Raiders -- and Jon Ryan, the punter.

The Seahawks allow Oakland to convert a third-and-12 on the first possession with a 15-yard run. The Raiders punted after running six plays. Jeron Johnson started at strong safety in place of Kam Chancellor, whose hip has been monitored.

Seattle gained one first down on its first possession, but had a 25-yard catch by Golden Tate on third-and-6 was challenged by Oakland and reversed upon replay review. The Seahawks' attempted a 54-yard field goal, but Steven Hauschka left it well short. Matt Leinart entered the game for the Raiders on their second possession. Yeah. It's going to be that kind of night. The Seahawks also subbed in their second-unit defense. Well, all of their second-unit defense except for rookie Bobby Wagner, who remains the middle linebacker.

The Seahawks took a 3-0 lead after the special teams forced a turnover on a punt return, linebacker Mike Morgan punching out a ball recovered by Bobby Wagner. Hauschka kicked a field goal to put Seattle ahead 3-0. Quarterback Russell Wilson was 5-for-11 passing in the first three drives for 72 yards.

Second quarter

Matt Flynn replaced Wilson at quarterback in the second quarter.
