There's no shortage of storylines as the Seattle Seahawks enter their third exhibition game whether it's a rookie starting at quarterback, a veteran trying to catch on or whether Golden Tate's practice performance will translate to a game.

Here's a short list of things everyone will be watching when Seattle plays the Chiefs at 5 p.m. Pacific (Ch. 13):

1) Russell Wilson's first-team casting call.
When an NFL team decides to start a rookie quarterback from Week 1, that franchise generally commits in that direction very early on, and everything in training camp is dedicated to getting that player as ready as possible. Wilson's bid to start is much more organic, and in some ways, much more impressive. He has played himself into consideration from his performance during the team's three-day rookie minicamp in May all the way through his sterling relief performances in the first two exhibition games. He currently is No. 3 in terms of preseason quarterback rating, and there is no doubt that this game will be the single-most scrutinized exhibition game for any quarterback since I began covering the team in 2005. Of course, that's not really saying all that much. The second-most scrutinized performance was Seneca Wallace in 2005 at New Orleans when everyone wanted to know if he could be the back-up to Matt Hasselbeck. Still, this game is a big deal.

2) T.O.o much, too soon?
Terrell Owens was in the intended target on five of Matt Flynn's seven incomplete pass attempts last Saturday in Denver. Two of those incompletions could be chalked up to complete miscommunication. One, Owens dropped in the end zone and another one was deflected on a great play by Broncos cornerback Champ Bailey though if we're being honest, Flynn should have thrown that ball earlier. Now, that wasn't the only shot Owens is going to get from this team, but he's not going to get limitless chances, either. He's going to need to produce if he's going to make this team.

3) Golden opportunity?
So for the first two weeks of training camp, there was a lot of talk about just how good Golden Tate was looking. Since the exhibition games began? Crickets. Hmmm, now where have we heard that storyline before. He did make an astounding catch in the end zone last week. It's just he came out of bounds. That didn't diminish the body control he showed making that grab, though. There's no doubt Tate's on this team. In fact, he very well could start at split end, but with one catch total over the first two exhibition games, his performance bears watching to see if he can translate his praiseworthy practices into game-time production.
