Tale of the Tate: 'Me and 81 have been through a lot'

RENTON -- Terrell Owens is wearing a number associated with perfection.

But before he decided to wear No. 10 for the Seahawks, he asked about the No. 81, which belongs to Golden Tate.

Tate said Owens asked if he could wear it, and Tate considered it before deciding he would keep it.

"Me and 81 have been through a lot," Tate said. "From donut shops to inactives ... I'm going to stay loyal to 81."

As for Owens in 10?

"Eighty-one wasn't available," Owens said. "There was a couple of options. I took 10, I look good in 10 so that's going to be my number."

Any other significance?

"Hey man, it was available," Owens said.
